Alison Hart


Alison Hart is the founder of Children’s Choice Therapy Service Ltd.

Alison Hart qualified in Occupational Therapy from Derby School of Occupational Therapy in 1993.  Following various physical acute and oncology work, she commenced in Paediatrics in 2000, becoming lead Allied Health Professional for Children’s services within locality in 2003 until 2009.  Alison is currently senior lecture practitioner at Derby University, as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and also works independently with children and young people.  Alison has an MSc in Occupational Therapy (community), and completed MSc module accreditation from Cardiff University for Sensory Integration.

Sarah Sheffield from Children's Choice Therapy Service

Sarah Sheffield


Sarah qualified from the Liverpool School of Occupational Therapy in 1990. Sarah has worked with children on Neurology and Oncology wards, and in Paediatric Intensive Care at the Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham; in three Child Development Centres in Staffordshire, Glasgow and Cheshire, and in community practice in Staffordshire and Cheshire. In addition, she spent 3 years working in the children’s therapy service at Duke University Hospital, Durham, North Carolina, USA.

Sarah has achieved various awards including the British Association of Occupational Therapist award winner for continued professional development, and the Rompa award for innovative work.

Sarah completed her Post Graduate Certificate in Sensory Integration from Ulster University 2015.

Samantha Armitage from Children's Choice Therapy Service

Samantha Armitage


Samantha qualified as an Occupational Therapist in 2005 from the University of Derby.

After two years on a rotational post she began to specialise in paediatrics, working in children’s community services in Staffordshire and Cheshire. She is currently specialist Occupational Therapist at Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, working between the community and acute neuro-oncology rehabilitation teams, she also works independently with children and young people.

Samantha qualified as a Master of Clinical Research in 2013 from The University of Manchester and has postgraduate clinical training in Sensory Integration Therapy (PGCertSI).

Jess Quinn from Children's Choice Therapy Service

Jess Quinn

MBAOT BScOT Advanced Practitioner SI

Jess qualified with a degree in Occupational Therapy in 2004. Since then Jess has worked across Staffordshire in a variety of posts including developmental neurosciences and Learning Disabilities and specialist ASD services. Jess has worked in special schools and colleges, Autism specific units, (including challenging behaviour units) independent homes and clinic settings.

Jess is Sensory Integration trained through the SI network UK and is currently completing her level 4 training. Throughout her career Jess has contributed to research, developed pilot projects, delivered supervision to other staff, and delivered training in Sensory Integration.

Jess has also won the Queens Nurses Institute Award for innovations for creating a Sensory Integration and Behaviour Clinic.

Sandra Town from Children's Choice Therapy Service

Sandra Town


Sandra qualified as an Occupational Therapy in 1986 from the Derby School of Occupational Therapy. After initially working in neurology, orthopaedics, adult learning disabilities and adult mental health, she specialised in 1991 in child and adolescent mental health (CAMHS). She currently works as a Head Occupational Therapist in a CAMHS Intellectual Disabilities team in the NHS and in independent practice.

Sandra has a Postgraduate Certificate in Sensory Integration from Ulster University 2015.

Mell Homan from Children's Choice Therapy Service

Mel Homan


Mel has 9 years’ experience across the private sector and public sector. Mel has completed her Postgraduate Certificate in SI and has a Masters in Advanced Occupational Therapy. Mel has spent the last five years working in Child and Adolescent Mental health focusing on children with a wide variety of mental health issues, ASD and sensory issues. Mel established a service within inpatient mental health of assessment and treatment of sensory issues and has delivered training within hospital schools across Nottingham around sensory issues and changing the classroom environment to meet need.

Kikidyn Matemba-Belli from Children's Choice Therapy Service

Kikidyn Matemba-Belli

Kiki qualified with a BSc honours degree in Occupational Therapy in 1998. In 2005 she qualified with a post graduate Diploma in Profound Learning Disabilities and Multi – Sensory Impairment. She has a worked in North Derbyshire Adult Learning Disability Services, in Nottingham in an Independent Scope School working with Children with a wide range of learning and physical disabilities.

From 2001 Kiki has worked for Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, initially working in the Sheffield Children’s Hospital for a number of years. Later moved into Community Children’s Services within the same Trust in 2003. She has worked in mainstream and special schools, homes, respite services and colleges within the city of Sheffield. She has worked with children with a wide range of learning and physical disabilities using Bobath, SI and CIMT.
